For Residents
Your home, designed by the group who will live in it.
Find a CPO initiative in your region or start your own. You define the programme — shared spaces, density, sustainability ambitions — and CrowdBuilding gives you the structure to hold the group together while you build it.

Why CPO
What changes when you act as your own client
15–25% cost reduction
When there is no developer taking a margin, that money stays in the build. CPO homes in the Netherlands consistently come out 15–25% cheaper than equivalent developer-built properties on the same type of site.
Your brief, not theirs
You commission the architect with a collective brief your group has written together. The design responds to how you actually want to live — not to an assumed median buyer who will accept the standard floor plan.
Neighbours before move-in
By the time you collect your keys, you have spent two to four years making decisions with these people. The social fabric of your neighbourhood is already built — the physical fabric just catches up.
No markup on your money
Land cost, build cost, professional fees — everything is transparent and paid directly. None of it passes through a developer who takes a percentage for the privilege.
Representative initiative
De Molen Collective — Haarlem region
Fourteen households in the Haarlem region currently organising through the CrowdBuilding platform. The group spans young families, two couples downsizing from large suburban homes, and a cluster of colleagues who commute to Amsterdam and want to live closer together. Their shared programme includes a communal growing space, a car-free shared courtyard, and a shared bicycle workshop.
The group completed its charter in early 2026 and is currently in active correspondence with Gemeente Haarlem about a CPO-reserved tender in the Schalkwijk district. A CPO process advisor from the CrowdBuilding network joined the group in February.
"I expected the hard part to be finding land. It turned out the hard part was reaching consensus about how many cars we wanted on the street. The shared programme template on CrowdBuilding forced us to talk about it properly in month two, instead of discovering we disagreed when the architect brief was already written."— Group member, De Molen Collective, Haarlem region
